We are experiencing very high demand and are trying to speak to people as quickly as possible. We're prioritising urgent matters, but unfortunately some people are having to wait a number of weeks to speak with a solicitor. In other cases we are forwarding written information to help people pursue their Centrelink matter.

We apologise for any frustration or distress these delays may cause. We are seeking additional funding but also invite you to contact your local Federal Member of Parliament to ask them to provide us with the additional funding we need to run our advice service.

The Welfare Rights Centre provides free legal advice on social security matters to all residents of NSW. We provide advice and assistance over the phone.

To arrange an appointment or receive advice and information over the phone, please call our advice intake line - 02 9211 5300 or 1800 226 028 (toll free from outside Sydney metro area).

We have telephone advice intake shifts twice a week - Monday & Wednesday: 9.30am – 12.30pm.

If you are seeking advice please call during these times. We can arrange interpreters if needed. If you are unable to get through to us please try again at a different time.

We understand that calling may be difficult for some people. You are welcome to send us an enquiry using the form below.

Please note that we only provide advice and assistance to NSW residents (with exception of members of the superfund HESTA). If you do not reside in NSW and or you are not a HESTA member, please visit www.ejaustralia.org.au to find your local community legal centre who can help you with your Centrelink problem.
