Administration Volunteers

Our administration volunteers answer incoming calls, respond to website inquiries, undertake file and data management, and provide paralegal support to extend the capacity of our office administration and casework practice.
Administration volunteers usually spend around six months answering calls and undertaking administrative duties until becoming competent users of our operating systems. Volunteers may then be offered an opportunity to take up paralegal duties, which can include contacting clients, sitting in on client interviews, taking interview notes, and drafting documents.
Administration volunteers must be well organised and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of people in a kind, confident and respectful manner. They must also have a genuine interest in supporting our service to help vulnerable people access their social security rights.
Volunteers are required to work a weekly 4-hour shift at our Surry Hills office for a minimum of six months. We provide a full induction process, ongoing support and supervision.
Administration volunteer recruitment occurs twice a year, but you can complete the simple form below at any time to indicate your interest and we’ll be in touch when we’re next recruiting. Please note, we will contact everyone who expresses an interest regardless of social security or casework experience.
