Want to gain a better understanding of Centrelink payments for seniors?
Nearly two-thirds of Australians beyond retirement age rely on government assistance as their main source of income.
This free online session will provide an overview of Centrelink payments and services available to people who are retired, planning for retirement, or continuing to work after reaching Age Pension age. It will cover key payments including Age Pension, Carer Payment and Carer Allowance, as well as special provisions for older people receiving JobSeeker Payment.
We will also explore common issues affecting older Australians, including residency requirements, member of a couple rules, and income and assets tests. The session will examine the implications of temporarily leaving a principal home, selling a principal home, and situations where one or both members of a couple move into residential aged care.
Target audience: Community workers and volunteers, aged care workers, social workers and lawyers.
